An Update

In an attempt to catch up, I’ll post a few highlights.  In the last few months I have …

…cut my hair.  It used to hang to my waist, and now – it’s between my shoulders and my chin.  And I don’t really have a clue what to do with it. :P

…taken CPR.  Robbie’s line – “I did so good my dummy started breathing!”  Actually, the best part of the whole experience was arriving early, and have one of the staff members come in the classroom and ask, “Are you here for CPR?”  What a loaded question … Robbie joked later he should have grabbed his throat and squeaked, “Yeah, do you have an opening?”

…we surprised my brother by having 9 visitors in our living room when he got home from the gym – one of his college buddies and his family.  It’s amazing how wonderful it is when believers spend time together, even when they’ve never met before.  Plus, it was really cool to be able to pull of a surprise like that for Robbie. :P

…accompanied a highschool band competition, and watched a few of my students do a local performance competition.  Also, scheduled my student recital for Friday May 13th.  No, I am not superstitious.  (Obviously.)

…felt like we were never going to be healthy again as various family members of the family went to the doctor’s over and over and over again.  Blegh. Since Christmas, our family has had colds, flu, pneumonia, sinus infections, ear infections, strep throat, and Dad had surgery for kidney stones.

…started taking fiddle lessons – I love it!  Namely, I love my teacher and I love hearing Scottish fiddle tunes.  Trying to actually play them myself I find rather frustrating.  My playing is – well, rather stiff!  But over all, I do enjoy it. :D

…lived through Ice Age 2011.  Also, learned about power outages with a generator.   It’s great, let me tell you.  It’s like having all the adventure of a power outage without all the inconvenience.

…and taken lots of pictures … what’s new?  Here are a few favs from the ice storm …

Sorry you had to suffer through another Ice Age, but the pics are beautiful! I survived one that was so bad, over ten years ago, that it snapped hundreds of power lines down in a row, like dominos, but with a more severe affect.

I cant say we ‘suffered’ through it – our power was down for less then 48 hours – I felt really bad for some friends of ours who were without heat/water for a week or more! But hey, we all survived, and it’ll give us stories to tell our grandkids. :P

    Hi Megan,
Robbie never said anything about your blog. :P I’ve enjoyed looking at your pictures-wow you have some amazing ones! Looks like you do well taking pictures of large families (as in, lots of kids, just for a clarification); that takes talent!
    God bless :)

Wow, you had an ice storm? How does that work?

Okay, I am from South Africa, so I’m a little clueless where snow and ice are concerned…

I really enjoyed the pictures, though! Amazing!

      Hello Renate,

Here in Michigan, we get ice storms normally once or twice a year. They generally happen when the temperature is in the 30-34 Farenheit range. When rain falls, the temperature is cold enough to freeze the rain very rapidly wherever it falls. Thus, all the frozen rain creates ice. :P :) (Probably ‘horrible’ from a weather standpoint, but that’s how it works) :)
